About Samir Nasr Eddine
Musical Journey
Samir Nasr Eddine is a Lebanese Oud soloist, composer, and educator with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Sciences and Oud from the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Beirut, which he obtained in 2001. He is an ambitious Oud player who has always sought to push the boundaries of his instrument by exploring various music genres, including Baroque, Classical, Flamenco, and Jazz, while still maintaining its unique oriental Arabic essence.
Achievements and Performances
In 2004, Samir ventured into composing music for a French play, marking the beginning of an exciting chapter. By 2006, he was enchanting audiences with Oud concerts titled “Sans Frontières” alongside the “GUIT’ARVERNE” association in France. Samir’s reputation continued to grow through Oud workshops held in Lyon, France, and Lausanne, Switzerland, along with numerous performances hosted by various venues.
In 2015, his debut album “Fantasia” soared to success, topping Virgin Megastores’ charts for two years. Invited by the Japanese Embassy, he collaborated with the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra on Japanese Music Day, showcasing his versatile Oud mastery. As an Oud soloist, Samir’s musical prowess resonated in notable recordings such as the “Oud Concerto & Oud Trio,” composed by the Lebanese-Russian composer Abdallah El Masri and recorded with the Orphey Philharmonic Orchestra in Moscow, Russia, which became his second album released in 2022. Additionally, he was invited by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra to perform Marcel Khalife’s Oud concerto and collaborated with jazz luminaries like Joe Locke in joint ventures.
His innovative approach to the Oud has led him to participate in diverse projects across Europe, from esteemed festivals like Cully Jazz Festival and Jazz Contreband in Switzerland to performances in France, Germany, and the Netherlands. These experiences underscore Samir’s multifaceted talents and global appeal, marking his musical odyssey as one of continuous growth and cultural fusion.
